How to recover deleted plan given file level backup

In the above question, an answer states:

How can I restore a plan given that I have a full disk backup?

Hi Mark,

If you have a backup of both database and bamboo-home, you may install the same version (from bamboo archive) and recover the skeleton of the plan by exporting as Java Specs and use it to import onto your current setup. Unfortunately, you cannot preserve the build history.

This is what is suggested in this feature request as well: BAM-1223
