How do I force Bamboo specs to update plans when first enabled?

I can see plans being published or updated when a commit to linked repo (for which scanning is enabled) is merged, but when I first enable scanning (or select a branch on the plans repo), no action is taken.  Is there some way of forcing the scan/update?

Which version do you use? Since Bamboo 6.5.1 there's a button on 'Specs status' tab to enforce scanning of a repository at any time:
