Does Bamboo agent come with build in powershell?

Does the Bamboo Agent come with builtin PowerShell?
If it does come with PowerShell, what version?
If this is not the latest version of PowerShell, is it possible to upgrade the version of PowerShell that comes with the Bamboo agent, and if not would I need to install a later version on the server and map to it?

Hi @James Brown,

As far as I know Bamboo server or agents do not come with a version of Powershell included.  They rely on whatever is installed on the host machine they are installed on and then adding it as a capability to the server/agent.  This is what I have been doing for years now.

I hope that helps!

That makes sense. It's not really clear to a lot of people what the agent provides vs what the server provides.

Added to Jimmy's comment, these are picked up from the PATH variable available for the respective user (present at the user and system level) as which the agent is running .

So, if you miss something available in capabilities, it must be most likely due to the respective path not available in the user's environment.

Cheers,
Jey
