The "end of support announcements" page mentions that AMIs are deprecated and support will be removed in Bamboo 7.1. What does this mean? Today, Bamboo starts AWS EC2s using the configured AMI to run Bamboo Agents. How will this work when "AMIs are removed"?

Hi @Jamie Goodfellow ,
Thanks for bringing this up.
The "end of support announcements" page mentions that AMIs are deprecated and support will be removed in Bamboo 7.1
We discussed this internally and have decided to not remove AMIs in Bamboo 7.1. This means that we will continue to bundle AMIs for few more versions until they are fully removed.
To make this clear, we have just removed this line from our announcement page:
In version 7.1, Amazon Machine Image will not be bundled with Bamboo anymore
Hope that clarifies.
Cheers,
Jey
Thanks for the information Jey!
When you mention "few more versions until they are fully removed", how will bamboo manage Elastic Agents when AMI support is removed? We're trying to understand what our future with Bamboo will look like. How will we run autoscaling agents?

Hi @Jamie Goodfellow ,

Once the support is dropped, Bamboo won't be preparing and releasing Bamboo elastic agent AMIs. In order to use elastic agents, Bamboo users will need to build their own custom AMIs as described in this page: Creating a custom elastic image.
This has again been clarified now in our End of support announcements page. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused and thanks for giving us an opportunity to fix our documentation.
Cheers,
Jey
