And if you're not on Austin Energy, it's worth checking whatever utility you are on to see if there are efficiency rebates to be had. The federal ones are helpful if you're doing something like replacing a water heater, as it'll pay the difference between a hybrid/heat pump one and a conventional water heater. What I find fascinating about stacking with the local rebates (if available) is that for example on Austin Energy, you'll completely pay back the investment in a heat pump water heater in 2 years, just on energy savings. Yowza!
