SCIM-synced Teams EAP - You can now connect your groups to existing teams!

Hi all,

Happy new year and hope you all had a lovely break 👋

We’re thrilled to share that you can now connect your groups to an existing team. Previously, the only option available was to connect a newly created team to a group.

This enhancement means you no longer need to create duplicate teams to make use of managed teams, and can connect teams that are already associated with work.

Simply select the existing team you want to connect to the group and ensure you review the changes to the team.

Here’s how to use it:

  1. Select the Connect team button in the group details page

  2. Select Existing team in the dropdown

3. Select a team to connect and review the changes.

Note the following will happen:

  • The team name will be updated to reflect the group name
  • The team membership will be updated to reflect the group membership

4. Verify the existing team that is connected to the group.

This should now be enabled in all your instances. To learn more about what is upcoming and to be released, please see his post here.

Thank you again for all your feedback that's helped us make this feature more valuable and useful!

This is great! I'm looking forward for the ability to have the Team name different from the linked group's name

Hey @Italo Lobato

Thanks for the comment! Let us know how it goes.

We're looking at scheduling this in after we ship this feature in February. I'll keep you updated once we have more clarity.

Hi @April Chi

When I try this in my org for one of my teams, I'm getting the following error.

TeamError.PNG

We have 10+ teams and I was able to get this group-team sync to work for all of them except one. The only differentiator I can see between those teams and this team is that I am a member of this team that's throwing me the error.

Hey @Chris Rainey ,

Thank you for flagging this. Let me bring this to the team and get back to you.

Are you able to provide me with the team ID? i.e. if you go to the team profile, it's the alphanumeric ID at the end of the URL: https://mysite.atlassian.om/people/team/<teamID>

Hey @Chris Rainey ,

Thanks for reporting the bug! Our engineering team has fixed it and it should work now.

Have a go at connecting the team and group again and let me know 🙏

Note that you may encounter the same issue if you disconnect a team and click Undo. If you do encounter this, we're fixing it atm - the ETA is by end of next week hopefully.

Let me know how you go :)
