Why Atlassian doesn't provide API for purchased products?

Atlassian has bought several marketplace apps in the past and turned them into modules in Jira.

Insight Asset Manager is now Assets. Jira Portfolio is now Advanced Roadmaps. Even the foundation of JSM was built on an SLA app from the marketplace (which I can't remember its name)

Even though the options and flexibility provided by marketplace apps are a significant part of Atlassian's success, why doesn't Atlassian provide API's for these new modules? We can't even read the most basic information from these modules.

For example, my team is developing a Connect app and we need to...

  • Get calendar definitions from JSM projects. We can't.
  • Get Roadmaps hierarchy and its related issue types. We can't.
  • Get asset information for a given asset ID. We can't.

Does anybody have a healthy way of getting this information? Does anybody know why Atlassian doesn't care to provide APIs for these modules? Can anyone from Atlassian join the discussion and shed some light on this?

(This topic is not something new. It has been discussed over and over but we need to keep discussing it if we have a hope to get an improvement about this.)
