Cloud-to-cloud migration for Jira is here

C2C header.png

Over the years, you’ve told us that you need an easier way to move users and projects between cloud sites.

Today, we’re excited to announce the beta launch of cloud-to-cloud migration for Jira! This feature will enable consolidation within Jira that wasn’t possible before. It will also allow teams at different organizations or within the same organization to collaborate more easily. This feature will give Atlassian admins more control over how their Jira Cloud sites are set up and is available now on all Jira Cloud sites.

To access the cloud-to-cloud migration feature:

  1. Log in to the cloud site you want to move your users and projects from.

  2. Go to Settings > System.

  3. Select Migrate cloud site from the left navigation menu.

Note: You need to be an organization admin or a site admin to access the feature and perform a cloud-to-cloud migration. We'll be rolling this out gradually to customers, so the feature may not appear for a few days, or longer if you have Release Tracks enabled.

Cloud-to-cloud migration for Jira helps you move users and Jira Software and Jira Work Management projects from one cloud site to another. You can perform a cloud-to-cloud migration when you want to:

  • combine data across two or more cloud sites

  • split a cloud site into multiple cloud sites

  • duplicate a cloud site

  • copy specific projects from one cloud site to another

For more information, please visit our support documentation, which outlines:

  • what gets migrated in a cloud-to-cloud migration

  • what you need to do to prepare your cloud sites for a migration

  • how to perform a cloud-to-cloud migration

As cloud-to-cloud migration for Jira is in beta, there are some issue fields, configurations, and other project types that we don’t support yet. Depending on your needs, you may need to consider other ways to move data between Jira Cloud sites. Learn about other methods and their limitations

Here’s a high level view of how cloud-to-cloud migration works:

  1. Access the cloud-to-cloud migration feature and create a migration

  2. Select your destination site

Hi @Elizabeth Howden ,

can this functionality be used for staging parametrizations from a sandbox site to a production site?

Best regards,

Luis

Thank you!

We've been waiting on this for so long.

Would be nice if there was an option to only migrate users and groups that are relevant for the migrated project(s).

Hi @Luis Plaza

We currently do not support migrations from sandbox to production. If this is a feature you'd like the team to look into prioritizing, please raise a suggestion ticket on our JAC queue and we'll look into prioritizing the requests based on the number of requests we receive for the same.

Hi @Elizabeth Howden ,

What are the plans to support Jira Service Management cloud-to-cloud migration?

Thank you

@Elizabeth Howden

It is possible to test migration using sandboxes on both source and target sites that are Premium/Enterprise?

Any plan to support JSM and team-managed projects in the near future?

Any plans to support Apps migration?

Any plans for a similar tool for Confluence?
