Does anyone know how to post a video in the community

I saw some people can post youtube videos in the community, and it seems rather easy to demonstrate things in this way. Does anyone know how to do it? I have also read it that this is only limited to the staff and the community leaders, but it seems some people can post it without being neither of them. Any thoughts are appreciated.

HI @Yuze Li- Communardo

I think you can only attach gifs as a 'video' format and there's a size limit.

I just tried to post an mp4 file and got the warning it's not possible.

That sounds a good approach too, @Kristian Klima thank you, I will try this one and see if it works for me.

Hi @Yuze Li- Communardo , @Kristian Klima is right that .gif is the only video-like format you can use. The allowed formats are .jpg,.JPG,.jpeg,.JPEG,.gif,.GIF,.png,.PNG (per the error message when I tried to upload a different file type). Also, the maximum file size appears to be 100MB. But as you mentioned, you probably have to have permissions to upload video to the Community, I couldn't find anything about that.

One option that I tried w/ a gif is to use the Insert Photos option in the post's editor and choose URL, which doesn't upload the file but creates a link to it. Again, not sure if that capability requires permissions or is available to all.

@Susan Waldrip

Can't check right now but i was nagged every time I tried to upload a gif over 3 or 4 MB. Maybe that's changed but I've become pre-programmed to downsize :)

Luckily, it's extremely easy in Snagit.

Hi @Yuze Li- Communardo as well as @Kristian Klima and @Susan Waldrip ...

Actually...

As Community Leader @Mirek described how to do it here it is not any kind of filetype or filesize limitation.

But Atlassian Community Manager @Bridget explained further in that post:

Hi there! We are currently limiting video embed functionality to Atlassian staff and admins. We will let you know when this media type is more broadly available!

So I think at some point (sorry not sure of the details) the Atlassian Community Managers extended this permission to Community Leaders.

Which I guess is great motivation to become a Community Leader (amongst many other great benefits!)

Oh interesting, @Kristian Klima , might your Admin (unless it's you!) clamped down on size limit? And I also check and minimize image/gif size when possible, usually pays off. Take care!
