Atlassian Intelligence for Atlassian Analytics is now in beta!

Hey there! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve made the Atlassian Intelligence feature in Atlassian Analytics available for organization admins to activate at admin.atlassian.com.

Once activated, you and your team will be able to:

  • ask questions to help you understand and learn the schema of the Atlassian Data Lake

  • generate SQL queries to answer key questions that can be used to build charts for use on Atlassian Analytics dashboards

Activate Atlassian Intelligence to get started

Atlassian Intelligence beta features are available once your organization admin activates Atlassian Intelligence.

Here are the steps for organization admins to activate Atlassian Intelligence:

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com. Select your organization if you have more than one.

  2. Select Settings > Atlassian Intelligence. You’ll see a table with any products that already have Atlassian Intelligence activated. This will be empty if your organization hasn’t activated it for any products yet.

  3. Select Select products. You’ll see a list of the products in your organization that you can activate Atlassian Intelligence for. Only products that have Atlassian Intelligence features available are shown here.

  4. Choose the products to activate Atlassian Intelligence for. You can select as many as you want. If you’ve already activated Atlassian Intelligence previously for Atlassian Analytics, you won’t need to repeat these steps for those products. Learn more about the AI features now available.

  5. Select Next, review your products, and accept the Atlassian Intelligence terms and conditions. Select Save to confirm.

How can I use natural language to build SQL queries?

After your organization admin enables Atlassian Intelligence, you can find the AI feature in Atlassian Analytics by doing the following:

  1. Select Switch to (waffle icon) > Analytics in the global navigation.

  2. In your Analytics workspace, select Create > Chart > Custom chart to open the chart editor.

  3. In your query, select SQL to open the SQL editor and select the Atlassian Intelligence icon in the lower-left corner. Note that this feature is only available for Atlassian Data Lake connections.

  4. From here, you can enter your questions in natural language, select Go to submit your question, and Atlassian Intelligence will return a SQL query.

Get started transforming your questions into SQL queries!

Unlock the full power of SQL

SQL is a powerful way to build charts, but we understand there’s a learning curve. AI generation aims to help put the power of SQL into the user’s hands without having to start from scratch. The corresponding SQL will be returned allowing you to run the query — making it easier to understand how Atlassian Data Lake schema is constructed, and helping you build a chart. You can then adjust your query by editing the SQL directly and then customize the chart to save to a dashboard!

Example prompts:

  • “Find all the open issues in a given project”

  • “Find the amount of operations alerts that have been generated this week”

  • “Which issues have changed status this week?”
