How to authorize users of confluence using other webapplication

Sachin Patil July 19, 2024

How to authorize users of confluence using other web application-->

I would like to authorize the profile of a Confluence user through the web-based application; everything should be managed through programming(i.e. access token should create through code and will take it to process further).

After looking at the Confluence documents, I was unable to locate any appropriate articles or pages that would have enable me to proceed.

Thanks for your response.  @Kristian Klima I do not want to use SAML SSO here.

I am here to request data from Confluence application using my other webapplication.
While performing operation in my application, will try to authenticate/authorize in confluence application using recommended mechanism.

I am ready to use any recommended token/authorize API or any other configurations which needs to be configured.

Many thanks !

Hi @Sachin Patil and welcome to the Community.

You can enable SAML SSO on Confluence Cloud and other Cloud apps within your Atlassian Organization but you need Atlassian Guard.

"Atlassian Guard Standard (SSO, SCIM, mobile app management)

Proactively protect your mission-critical work with advanced authentication controls and flexible security policies.

  • Enforce Single Sign-on (SSO) and two-factor authentication
  • Automate user lifecycle management (SCIM provisioning)
  • Set policies for secure collaboration with external users
  • Seamless integration with your Identity provider (IdP)"
