๐ŸŽ‰ You can now see the full list of detections in Beacon and even customize some!

Hi there,

Our team is incredibly excited to announce the newest feature in Beacon - the Detections listโ—

Not only does this help you see all the detections we have shipped, but it also helps you understand what the detection is, and which products they cover.

In addition to this, we heard your feedback loud and clear - you can now customize some of these thresholds and adjust alerts to fit your noise preference.

Here's a quick tour! โคต๏ธ

Where does this live?

Right under the Alert Dashboard where it's easy to find.

You'll notice a new tab in your left navigation panel called Detections like below.

What can I do in here?

  • See the full list of detections that Beacon covers for your organization

  • See a description for each detection

  • See alerts for a specific detection

  • Search for detections

  • Filter by product type, time interval, or whether they're customizable or not

  • Customize some detections to Low, Medium, or High

How do I customize a detection?

Follow these steps or you can also just follow along on the demo below.

  1. Filter the detections by Customizable

  2. Click on any of the updated detections

  3. Choose Low, Medium or High (a green box will pop up to confirm your choice)

  4. Select View all Alerts to see all alerts that have been triggered for that detection.

๐Ÿšจ Pro Tip: When you select High, it increases the number of pages/issues/exports before an alert is fired. This means it results in fewer alerts.

So if you're getting too many alerts for a detection, choose High. If you're not getting enough, choose Low. If you're happy with your alert cadence, stay put. And if any of this is confusing, let us know! ๐Ÿ˜„

Do I have to do anything else?

Nope! All Beta organizations have full access to this and we can't wait to hear from you.

If you have ideas for detections, please use the Request new detection in the top right of the Detections tab.

If you need assistance or have other feedback, reach out to us via the blue intercom bubble in the bottom right.

Hey @Tygrr DosRemedios

Thanks for the updates. Great to see what Atlassian is doing with Beacon. I have a couple questions though:

  • Can you advise on what the low and high thresholds are now for confluence page / Jira issue views please?
  • Can any user to Beacon update the detections or is there a admin level to this?

Hi Dan,

Great questions! Thresholds...

Low = 16 pages in 5 min

Med = 30 pages in 5 min

High = 45 pages in 5 min

We will be playing around with those numbers as we continue optimizing on the back end.

Can any user to Beacon update the detections or is there a admin level to this?

Any user added to Beacon in your org has access to do this.

Let me know if any other concerns or feedback comes up!

Cheers,

Tygrr

Nice!

Would be cool, if Beacon could detect when Jira team-managed project permissions are changed to "Open". Just submitted that idea :)
