October 2023 - Fall in Love with Our New Features

Hi Atlassian Community!

Just as the season shifts and the vibrant colors of fall begin to unfold, we're thrilled to bring you some exciting changes of our own! So, grab a cup of hot apple cider, settle into your favorite cozy spot, and let's dive into what's new and improved in Beacon.

A new way to view detections

We’ve separated detections into two different tabs: User activity and Content scanning. User activity are focused on a user's behavior whereas Content scanning focuses on scanning your Confluence pages in real-time for specific types of PII.

View alert details responsively

Viewing alerts in smaller screens has never been easier. Our alert detail page now adapts to mobile, tablet, and desktop sized screens.

Boosting Confluence suspicious searches

This alert is triggered a lot faster now (within minutes) and covers more types of activity, including users who search for Confluence content via API and Atlassian Intelligence.

Find & triage your alerts more easily

We’ve added site filtering, simplified the alert statuses, and decluttered the filters UI by collapsing every additional filter you select.

New webhook payload

Improve your integrations with our new JSON payload, designed to streamline your data handling and enhance your overall productivity. Learn how to use our webhooks. If your team uses Splunk, don’t forget about our Beacon add-on for Splunk.

Hi @Matt Tse

These are just UI modifications!

We need more detections and webhook integration with other Atlassian products

Thanks,
Pramodh

Hey @Pramodh M,

Thanks for your feedback. Creating more detections and integration flexibility is definitely top of mind for us. Can you tell us more about what it is you need when it comes to these things?

Hi @Matt Tse

Thanks for the revert!

I have been following the product updates from the day it was in the alpha stage but the feedback was not prioritized, for some of us admins, it's really important that we also have the independence to configure the detections, and for that, the webhook feature really hold good!

Please find the below comment, I had earlier interacted with the team

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Beacon-Articles/Meet-the-Beacon-team/ba-p/2128562#

I requested two features that would add value to the interesting product that Atlassian has come up with

  • To have incoming webhooks feature in place (for example, to list the events like issue deleted) and also detect if it was done for a single issue or bulk issues
  • Allow the option to add the events from Audit logs from Jira Software, Confluence & Jira Service Management
  • Allow critical events to be added to Beacon (examples include group creation, permission given to projects either via rules or by directly adding users/groups/roles via permission scheme)

Other queries include:

Is the Bitbucket & Opsgenie integration planned with Beacon?

Integration with Data Center Products or is there anything similar planned for the on-premise edition?

Thanks,
Pramodh
