Jira Cloud Migration Assistant: A Comprehensive Guide

Migration to Cloud is one of the hottest topics nowadays so, if you are using Jira Server and thinking about migrating to Cloud, you're not alone. Many Jira users are making the switch to Cloud, and for good reason. Cloud offers a number of advantages over Server, including:

  • Always up-to-date: Cloud is constantly being updated with new features and security patches. This means that you'll always be using the latest and greatest version of Jira.
  • Scalable: Cloud can easily scale to meet the needs of your growing team. You don't have to worry about hardware or software maintenance.
  • Secure: Cloud is hosted in Atlassian's secure data centers. Your data is protected by industry-leading security measures.

If you're considering migrating to Cloud, the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA)can help. The JCMA is a free tool that makes it easy to migrate your data from Server to Cloud. It can migrate your users, projects, issues, and attachments.

The assistant also includes a number of features that can help you plan and execute your migration. For example, you can use the assistant to:

  • Assess your current Jira setup: The assistant will scan your Jira Server instance and identify any potential issues with your migration.
  • Create a migration plan: The assistant will help you create a plan for migrating your data to Cloud.
  • Monitor your migration progress: The assistant will track the progress of your migration and alert you if there are any problems.

In Deiser we decided to create a series of video blogs called "The Deiser Connection". These vlogs are focused on sharing knowledge about the Atlassian tools, and Marketplace. Since we are 7 months away from the Atlassian Server EOL, we decided to share a bit about how the JCMA works. Here's the full video:
