Hello everybody! SaaSJet is here. Our team took part in the Hackathon Codegeist for the first time this year, and we want to share our story with you. Make a cup of tea, sit down comfortably and get ready to read mini-stories about our work.
We are from Ukraine. Yes, from the same unbreakable and free one. Our team is located in different parts of the country - Kyiv, Ternopil, Odesa, Kharkiv, Melitopol, Poltava, Sumy, etc. Someone stayed at home, someone had to move to safer places.
In such conditions, it is quite difficult to plan something. But 9 months of confrontation taught us to adapt to any conditions. We had 2 developers, 1 data mining engineer, 2 machine learning engineers, 1 technical product owner, 2 designers, 1 marketer, 1 QA engineer and the main inspiration - the CEO of our company. We had the knowledge, the ideas and the absolute understanding of how to make it all happen. Success! But... Every successful story should have its "but". And we are no exception. Due to shelling, we did not have two important components - electricity and the Internet connection. Therefore, the first thing we studied was the characteristics of power banks, the addresses of the nearest co-working spaces and the approximate schedules for turning off the electricity in our cities. We can say that an atmosphere of romance hovered over us - you, a laptop, candlelight and very slow internet from a mobile router.
Such conditions excited us, and we submitted as many as three Forge apps to the judges. In addition, the third app was under the vital question, "Will we have time to finish it?" It was approved two hours before the deadline.
A good mood and absolute self-confidence compensated the extreme and dangerous conditions. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, three of our applications were "born" due to work at the hackathon.
Jira is a necessary and multifunctional tool. Millions of users around the world have appreciated its benefits. But there is one nuance. Everyone who gets to know her for the first time is faced with three mysterious letters – JQL. It is a powerful and convenient tool for searching and filtering the necessary information in Jira. But not all users have a technical background and have no idea how to simplify their lives with the help of these three letters.
And is it possible to communicate with Jira in human language and quickly get what you want?
We have the answer to this question in the form of the Text to JQL add-on. It is AI-based solution that generates a corresponding JQL query that interests the user from a natural language query. With the help of this app, Jira becomes closer and more transparent. The search for the necessary information or data filtering stops being a challenging and complex quest for a beginner user.
Text to JQL – an AI solution that will allow a program and a person to understand each other, even if you communicate in completely different languages.

Every day, managers control many processes within their teams. They keep many thoughts in their heads related to the tasks and challenges in the projects. Further, these thoughts would be transformed into tasks for subordinates. But people tend to forget something. Also, creating tasks manually takes a lot of time and could be used better. Such processes demand optimization. So why not create tasks using your voice? Dictate the required Jira issue using the Dictation for Jira add-on. This is an innovation that works for you. It leads your company forward and allows you to focus on what's important, leaving aside routine work.
Clearly formulated task + time-saving = maximum efficiency of the manager's and team's workflow.
Dictation for Jira add-on is the future that happens here and now.

The new world will be where everything is compressed and overloaded compared to the present time. Businesses and markets, teams and managers, communication and transferring vast amounts of data - all of them will be in search of keys to the door of efficiency. The future of business communications looks to us as a multimodal, natural language based, and will also include a new type of player: such as intelligent virtual assistants. They will bring communication to the next level between teams and online services.
Add-on provides a natural language interface for Jira task management.

And we'd like to announce that the JIVA app will soon be released on the Atlassian Marketplace as your personal Jira Intelligent Virtual Assistant. Follow our news!
This hackathon is an incredible experience for us as a team. It unites, brings you closer, and forces your brain to work completely differently. We are looking forward to the results!
Please also share your feedback about our projects in the comments - we will be happy to chat with you!
P.S. Yes, this is our first hackathon. But not the last. We hope that next year we will work even more powerfully and efficiently, but already with electricity, good network connection and without rockets over our heads in the peaceful country.
