How to change the hourly rate correctly?

Avdeev Andrey August 25, 2024

Hello. I use the Tempo plugin on Jira Data Center.  This question is about Accounts.

My hourly rate for a consultant is 2000. I entered the hours worked the entire last month. In the report Revenue I see the hours worked multiplied by 2000. 10 * 2000 = 20000 From next month my rate will be 2500. I tried to change the hourly rate and the Revenue report was recalculated for last month. Now it is 10 * 2500 = 25000. How can I change the hourly rate correctly so that it is calculated only from next month?

Hi @Avdeev Andrey ,

You are not inputting a date when you change the rate for a role so I kinda suspect that  storing historical time rates is not supported (yet?).  I think you expect Tempo to store the date upon editing and lock the old rate to the historical reports.

I think the quickest way is to contact Tempo Support to confirm this.

When you manage a team you add members to the team and to a role on a specific start and end date though. I would be curious to test if you can create a new role ("Consultant B" for 2500) and swap the user from old role to this new one on a particular date. Will that be respected in the reports?

More on the revenue reporting in the documentation and specifically around multiple roles

Best of luck

Lisa

Thanks for the advice. It turned out like this: you need to specify the account end date. The user disappears from the team but the hours remain on the chart Revenue. Then we re-add the user with the new role "Consultant B"
