Configure task management with JetBRains Rider, Jira Cloud and self-hosted GitLab

Christian Binder October 12, 2024

Dear all,

after trying to get this running for quite some time I hope that someone can support me or point me into the right direction!

I've registered a free Jira Cloud instance using my Google account and installed a self-hosted GitLab instance on a Hostinger VPS. The users have all administrative rights and I created and used access tokens for both Jira and GitLab.

What did I try:

  • I've configured the Git remote server in JetBrains Rider (this is working as expected).
  • I've added the tasks server (https://{my name}.atlassian.net/jira), my Google email address and the Jira access token → clicking “Test” shows “Connection is successful”.

What happens:

  • When I open the tasks drop-down in JetBrains Rider I can see a list of the latest commit messages…
  •  … and when selecting “Open Task…” it shows “Searching…” in the upper right corner of the popup but never ends searching and showing the open Jira tasks.

With the same JetBRains Rider installation I use the task management for my company (Jira Data Center and Gitlab self-hosted) and there everything is working as expected.

I would appreciate any help to fix this issue - please do not hesitate to get in contact with me in case of further questions and/or missing information.

Please pardon me if this is the wrong location to ask this question!

Many thanks in advance and best regards,
Christian
