If you want your projects to be successful and delivered within the time frame and budget, you should monitor all updates made by your team daily. It provides real-time insights into task status, identifies problems, and ensures accountability, which ultimately contributes to the successful delivery of projects. In this article, we want to share tips to help you track project updates and progress with Issue History for Jira app (available for Cloud and Data Center users).

1. How to see updates made today by a specific user?

If you need to review specific user activity, there is a convenient feature designed to filter users by name typing and selecting from the drop-down menu.

  1. Use the “Updated by” option.
  2. Select “Today” in the date menu.

Additionally, you can select dates, projects or other filters to narrow down the result.

2. How to get changes made by the team (several users) on specific dates?

Recently, we added a multi-selection option, so you can select as many people as you need from the drop-down list.

Check multiple users in the “Updated by” menu and the date range you need:

3. How to check updates for 2-3 (or more) specific tasks?

If you need to control updates for a few issues only, for example, the ones from the next release, you can do it under the issue key column.

Select 2, 3, or more issues with the Key filter:

As a result, you will get updates only for selected issues.

4. How to see specific status or priority transitions?

It’s also possible to select only those status transitions (e.g., In Progress - Done) or priority transitions (e.g., Medium - High) that are important to you at the moment. For example, if you want to see critical issues with high priority or which tasks were resolved today.

Use status transition filter:

Use priority transition filter:

5. How to monitor updates for several projects?

For the teams that work with several projects simultaneously, it can be helpful to track changes for all or a few projects in one place. In this case, you can use JQL inside the add-on.

Choose the JQL option and add all the projects you need:changes in several projects jira.png

Also, you can review if any issues migrated from one project to another. You just need to add project field to the columns. You can find all details here: How many tickets were moved from one Jira project to another? [Use case]
