Hey Atlassian Community!
The Deviniti team is excited to share the latest adjustments to one of our leading apps — Dynamic Forms for Jira (Cloud).
If you're a Jira admin who wants to improve form usability, read on. Below, you will learn how the app supports teams and how new updates work in practice.
Dynamic Forms for Jira app makes form management in Jira more intuitive and efficient. The app enables admins to build dynamic context-relevant forms that adjust users’ content based on previous selections, ensuring that only relevant fields are displayed.
This way, teams collect accurate data without overwhelming users with unnecessary questions. Moreover, by presenting only necessary fields, the app streamlines the submission process and minimizes the risk of data entry errors.
New features provide more options for easy customization and configuration of dynamic forms.
Here are two major updates that have been introduced lately:
Now users can edit dynamic fields not only in the ‘create an issue’ view, but also when the issue has already been created.
New added actions allow you to show or hide different options in a select/multiselect field. So when you choose a value in another field, only the options that you select are displayed or hidden.
Now let’s have a quick tour on what exactly you can do with these new additions.
What you can do: configure dynamic form fields in the issue view.
1. Configure actions for selected fields.
💡 Pay attention to what actions are available for a given view type. For instance, for the issue view, the “show field” (dynamic display of fields) and “read-only” actions are available.
2. Default settings apply to the “create” screen. If we want the configuration to work on issue view, in the screen schemes configuration you need to select the new View types option and turn on the toggle.
3. As a result, the user, after entering the created issue, has the option to dynamically edit the fields configured in Dynamic Forms.
Before enabling the feature, the user in the issue view, after clicking on the field configured in the application, can edit it, but the options are not displayed in the way defined in the rules for this field:
After enabling the feature, the field behaves as defined in the rules in the application. In this case, it displays only the specified options:
What you can do: set options visibility in a select/multiselect field.
1. Select a new action: show options or hide options.
2. Choose which options you want to be displayed for selection.
3. Now select conditions.
In this case, if the users select the value “Developers” in the previous “Department” field, then they will be able to select in the “Positions” field from the options defined in this step. They will not see all the options available for “Positions”.
The result:
We love getting feedback from users. If you want to share your thoughts or have a quick demo tour, schedule a meeting with Aleksandra, Project Manager of Dynamic Forms.
