For this month's partner spotlight, we're featuring Planyway for Jira, a Marketplace Integration Partner! We caught up with Sergey Koshevoy, CEO of Planyway, about how his team comes up with new ideas for apps, what's next for them, and more.
Atlassian: Sergey, can you tell us a bit about the journey of Planyway? What inspired you to create it?
Sergey: Planyway was born out of a simple yet pressing challenge: helping teams stay organized without losing sight of the bigger picture. Initially, we launched Planyway as a Trello power-up, aiming to provide a robust team calendar that made it easy to share work, align on deadlines, and collaborate effortlessly.
As we grew, it became clear that teams using Jira faced many of the same challenges—managing tasks across projects, visualizing progress, and coordinating schedules in a way that not only avoided overwhelm but also ensured deadlines were met.
When you’re the product manager and you're this close to cracking the puzzle...
Atlassian: The Atlassian Marketplace is a competitive space. What sets Planyway for Jira apart?
Sergey: Planyway stands out as a user-friendly, all-in-one solution that eliminates the need to switch between tools. It brings together capacity planning, roadmaps, calendars, and time tracking with detailed reporting—all in one platform.
Atlassian: The success of a product often comes down to the people behind it. Can you tell us about the team behind Planyway?
Sergey: Right now, we’re a tight-knit team of 14 passionate individuals, and every one of them plays a crucial role in making Planyway what it is. Our developers are always fine-tuning features to make sure the app works seamlessly. Our designers bring a fresh perspective, focusing on making Planyway not just functional but also visually inviting and easy to use.
Then there’s our support team—they’re the heart of our connection with users, always ready to listen and help solve problems quickly. And of course, our product team works closely with the people who matter most: our users. They take real feedback and turn it into features and updates.
When you find a bug, but it’s the good kind that’s already fixed in the latest update.😎💻
Atlassian: What are some challenges you’ve faced while developing Planyway for Jira, and how did you overcome them?
Sergey: One major challenge was understanding the diversity of use cases within Jira. Every team uses it differently—what works for a software development team might not resonate with a marketing team. To address this, we spent months researching, conducting user interviews, and refining the product to be as versatile as possible.
Another challenge was ensuring Planyway integrates deeply into Jira without adding complexity. We wanted it to feel like a natural extension of Jira, not an external add-on.
Atlassian: Let’s talk impact. How has Planyway changed the way teams work in Jira?
Sergey: The feedback we hear most often is that Planyway brings clarity. Teams tell us they can finally see the big picture without feeling overwhelmed by the details. One of my favorite stories comes from a customer who manages a global marketing team. Before Planyway, coordinating campaigns across regions was chaotic. Now, they use Planyway to align tasks, deadlines, and resources in real time across projects, and their productivity has skyrocketed.
It’s moments like these that remind us why we do what we do.
Atlassian: What’s next for Planyway? Can you share any sneak peeks?
Sergey: Absolutely! We’re working on some exciting updates, including advanced reporting features. Additionally, we’re enhancing our workload management to give teams an even clearer view of resource allocation.
Atlassian: Lastly, what would you like to say to the Atlassian community and potential Planyway users?
Sergey: First, thank you for your support and enthusiasm—it means the world to us. For those who haven’t tried Planyway yet, I’d encourage you to give it a spin. Whether you’re a project manager, developer, or marketer, I’m confident you’ll find value in what we’ve built. And for our existing users, keep the feedback coming! You’re the reason Planyway keeps getting better.
