You’ve got a page idea but you don’t have the time to start from scratch. That's where Confluence templates come in! Thankfully, there's a range of templates ready for you to use, letting you work on the stuff that matters - quicker.
Let’s talk about how to use templates, how to create your own, and how to quickly create more engaging pages in Confluence Cloud.
There are plenty of reasons to use a template for your pages. These include:
Consistent content: Create professional-looking content that aligns with your company.
Fewer errors: With a clear format, templates help keep pages accurate and error-free.
Time saved: Not starting from scratch means less time wasted on tedious and repetitive page elements.
Many templates are available from different sources. Atlassian offers roughly 130 free Confluence templates designed for a range of teams, from project management to strategic planning.
If you’d like something more visually appealing, Content Formatting Macros for Confluence comes with over 20 engaging templates and can be found in the Templates area.
1. While in your chosen Confluence space, click Templates in the top bar.
2. Browse the templates or use the search bar to find one you like. You can click on a template to open a preview.
3. When you've chosen a template, click Use template in the template preview. This will open the template in your space.
4. Edit the template just as you would a normal Confluence page. Remember to give it a title!
5. Press Publish in the top-right corner when you're finished editing. That’s it!
In your chosen space, select ‘Space settings’ in the sidebar.
Click ‘Templates’ under the ‘Look and feel’ options’.
Select ‘Create New Template’.
Edit your template as you would with a normal page. Give it a descriptive title to make it easy to find!
Once you're done, click ‘Save’ in the top-right corner. You can now find it under the Templates section.
📝Note: Unfortunately, you can't add images or attachments to templates right now. As a workaround, you can add labels, placeholder text, and variables.
If you just want to browse some pages to give you ideas of how to create your own, we've created a range of example Confluence pages using Content Formatting Macros. From product plans and knowledge bases to a fantasy character sheet, there's a page to inspire everyone.
