How to Use QARA Enterprise to Record Test Cases

The process of testing is imperative to the development of software products and applications. Software testing is carried out for the purpose of quality assurance and it involves identifying the faults and bugs in the software so that they can be rectified on time. As agile methodology gains popularity with organizations across the globe, there is a need for the testing process to be faster in order to keep up with the development process.

However, testing involves several small steps that need to be executed repeatedly. Also, regression testing involves re-execution of already used test cases to ensure the existing functionalities of the software are working fine. Such scenarios that require repeated execution of test cases generally take up a lot of effort and time of the QA team and also require more resources with high level of domain expertise.

The Need for Record & Playback Functionality

The Record & Playback framework is the solution to the above problems as it records each and every manual test case. When the test cases are executed for the first time, the framework records the test cases along with their results. The results thus recorded are used as a standard against which the results of each subsequent automatic execution are verified. This ensures that the subsequent test cases are executed as expected.

The Record & Playback functionality greatly improves the speed of test case execution by eliminating the need for executing monotonous steps again and again.

Once the recording is complete, the recorded test cases are automatically saved in the test cases folder of QARA Enterprise. Also, QARA Enterprise allows the automatic addition of object handles to the Shared Object Repository when recording test case activities.

So, you see that recording test cases in QARA Enterprise is simple but can go a long way in simplifying the test automation process. Have you tried it yet? Let us know your experience and share your feedback.
