Give a warm welcome to Mosaic! – An identity update for Content Formatting Macros for Confluence.

Fifteen years after its launch, Content Formatting Macros has been given a fresh identity. Kolekti’s flagship Confluence product is now called Mosaic: Content Formatting Macros & Templates. Or just Mosaic for short.

Why the change, you may ask?

Well, the app has come a long way since its release in 2010. What started as a collection of useful macros to improve Confluence pages has become a complete content formatting solution.

In 2014, for example, Content Formatting Macros was only for Data Center and Server users and offered just 22 macros. Now, it has more than 40 macros (on Data Center), an ever-expanding set of templates, and the revolutionary Smart Designer (on Cloud).

We have grown beyond being just a macro toolkit. Our recently released features like Smart Designer, Templates, and advanced macro customisation offer far more value than before.

This leap in functionality meant an update was overdue, and we chose the term ‘mosaic' (meaning a combination of different parts making a whole) because it fits perfectly.

New Name. More Value! Let's look at Mosaic's new features and see how they can benefit you.

Smart Designer

This powerful design tool instantly transforms basic copy into wow-factor content. Smart Designer is built into Mosaic so just highlight the text you want to format and click ‘Start designing.’

Templates

Mosaic also offers a suite of 25 full-page templates to suit most office use cases. Some of the most popular include Team Homepage, Project Report, How-To Article, Meeting Notes, and Knowledge Base. They're easy to combine with Confluence's built-in features as well as other applications. You can view the menu from the Mosaic app homepage, then simply select the template you'd like to use, and off you go.

The ever-expanding toolkit

Mosaic has always offered must-have macros to elevate Confluence pages and produce high-impact content, but in recent years, the list has grown considerably:

  • Advanced Expand: Add inside tabs, backgrounds, and table cells

  • Tabs: Create, customise, and reorder tabs in one menu

  • Background: Design sections, tables, and headers with images and colours

  • Advanced Cards: Visual cards with custom layouts and palettes

  • LaTeX: Easily insert mathematical formulas

  • Alert: A pop-up to inform users of a page's status or other warnings

  • Plus: Numbered Headings, Buttons, Tooltips, Interactive Banners + AI, Footnotes, BibTeX, and more!
