Welcome to App Central!
community.atlassian.com allows users of a multitude of backgrounds to share their knowledge and collaborate with each other. It’s where our users come to find answers to pressing questions, resources, best practices, and networking opportunities.
The giant landscape that is the Atlassian community is organized into different spaces, each focused on a specific Atlassian product or topic. App Central being one of those spaces!
You did the easy part- creating an Atlassian community account. But don’t stand outside the club when you can get in! Be sure to join the group to stay updated on upcoming campaigns, kudos missions, Partner spotlights, and more.
We also differentiate our Partners and our members by assigning a lozenge of “Marketplace Partner”. Don’t see that next to your username? You can request one here!
Welcome to your new home!
App Central is will be your home for all discussions about Atlassian-centered apps and integrations, previously the Apps & Integration collection. Our Marketplace Partners are a vital part of our community, providing an untapped solution(s) to a wide user-base.
Our Atlassian community users ask thousands questions a day about our products and services, which means there are thousands ways to assist and connect with them. But an authentic connection is a crucial aspect of participating in the community. What does this look like?
It means identifying your target audience, understanding their needs, and finding effective ways to reach out to them. It does not mean commenting irrelevant solutions, excessive spamming external links, or mentioning a company without a clear display of your affiliation. Sound familiar? There are a few guidelines Partners (and Members alike) follow to ensure a safe environment. Think of these 3P’s when it comes to your experience on Community: participating, publishing, and promoting.
Shout-out to @Justyna Gdowik _ Deviniti _ for creating a recent friday fun thread! 🎉 |
Our users would love to see your participation in the Atlassian community beyond the App Central/Promotional scope. Here are some groups/threads to get involved in:
Welcome Center: Every Wednesday, Community Leader @Jimmy Seddon publishes content welcoming new users and provide a positive start to the week!
High Five Wednesday: Join us on Wednesdays as we high-five peeps who submitted five answers on community
Miscellaneous Monday and Friday Fun: Every week in the Watercooler, a community member publishes content miscellaneous content in an effort to engage and connect with users outside of Atlassian-related products.
Language Groups: Often times, Non-english speaking users will ask questions in their respective language groups, looking for answers and solutions. This is a great way to leverage your polyglot team members in assisting them!
As of 26 Jul |
Partners are also welcome to join the fun by completing Kudos missions! The Kudos program as a reward system where you can earn points and badges for participating in activities in the Atlassian Community. At the end of every quarter, we award our Top 25 members of the Kudos leaderboard with an exclusive badge (and bragging rights 😉 ) If you are currently not enrolled in Kudos, you need to join before you can start earning. Simply click the button at the top right of the navigation bar that says ‘Kudos’ and then select "Join the Kudos program". |
As Marketplace Partners, you’re excited about all of the solutions and features you have to offer (and we are too). And what better way to reach your audience than to publish an article! Marketplace partners that submitted a ticket, adjusted their usernames to reflect their affiliation, and accepted our guidelines are granted article writing permissions.
In App Central, you can provide resources, share a cool feature about your product, or start a discussion with fellow Partners.
In your articles, you want to be sure to:
✅ Identify yourself as a partner so that the user is aware you are affiliated with a partner company.
✅ Be clear and concise in your article. Avoid word vomit and optimize your content for efficient searchability.
✅ Utilize tags that are relevant to your content and company.
✅ Provide educational value by including use cases, citing sources in claims, providing examples.
✅ Follow our voice and tone guide which encompasses our community.
✅ Include visuals where applicable. We love pictures (and GIFs) on the Atlassian community, especially in connecting with users that are at different points in their journey.
First and foremost, the Atlassian community serves as a resource for users to ask or answer questions and gain knowledge from other users. The community is a place of learning and connecting, not to primarily promote or point people back to your products or your website. Most of partner engagement is conducted in product-specific questions.
With that said, there are appropriate ways to feature your solution in a way that aligns with our guidelines and Terms of Service (ToS). When engaging on community, keep in mind a few things:
☞ example of a good answer |
☞ example of a not-so-good answer |
DO ✅ Identify yourself with a lozenge + username (and even a profile picture) ✅ Mention your application in conjunction with your answer to a relevant, unanswered question. ✅ Provide Atlassian resources or other community links that answers the user’s question in depth ✅ Limit your daily promotional content/links ✅ Participate in threads other than App Central to avoid being a “solely promotional” account |
DON'T ❌ Link multiple external sites ❌ Spam multiple threads with copy and paste messages ❌ Promote sales, discounts, links, etc in irrelevant threads ❌ Consistently upvote team members answers. This is gaming the system ❌ Necroposting, reposting, copying or plagiarizing articles, discussions, or Q&As |

As you know, we send warnings to partners who abuse our guidelines. Repeated violations will result in consequences including your article-writing permissions being removed, your account being suspended, or being reported to the Atlassian Marketplace team.
