🍻Apptoberfest'24 🍂: Ensuring your team is actually talking the same "Talk"!

How often have you come across a word that means something entirely different in another language?

For example, "chat" in English means a conversation, but "chat" in French means a cat.

Now, imagine that kind of mix-up happening during a meeting.

How many times have you misinterpreted an acronym that meant one thing to you and something entirely different to another team?

We’ve all been there, it happens. But that’s exactly why we need tools to make our work smoother, reduce mistakes, and cut down on miscommunication, especially when working with people from different backgrounds.

That’s where Smart Terms for Confluence comes in.

Why Smart Terms?

Smart Terms is more than just a glossary; it's a tool designed to clear communication and reduce the chances of misinterpretation within your team. If you’re working across Confluence spaces, it helps ensure everyone is on the same page, literally!

Key Features of Smart Terms for Confluence

  • 📖 Meaningful enterprise glossary
Create and organize a detailed glossary that’s not just a list of words, but a full vocabulary system. Add definitions, interconnect terms, and enrich entries with related vocabulary, images, videos, PDFs, or embedded code.

  • 🌍 Multilanguage glossaries
Build glossaries in over 24 languages, ensuring that team members, no matter their location or native language, can access and understand enterprise terminology.

  • 🔍 Powerful search engine
The powerful search feature allows you to quickly retrieve definitions from any page, space, or across all Confluence spaces. This makes it easy to connect terminology across your organization.

  • 🖊️ Real-time highlighting
Terms are automatically highlighted across your Confluence pages. Just hover over a term to instantly see its definition, ensuring that no one misses the meaning.

  • 🖥️ Customizable appearance
You control how terms are highlighted and presented. Change colors and styles, and even apply advanced CSS to tailor the look to your team's needs.

  • ⚙️ Global glossary management
Share glossaries across different Confluence spaces, ensuring consistency throughout your organization. You can also define rules to customize which terms are available in each space and much more.

When we say it is for every team, we mean it: Including all Jira users

And we didn’t forget about the Jira users! Smart Terms for Jira is available for free, allowing you to highlight words in Jira tickets.

And just like that, your team is unified, with fewer miscommunications, more clarity, and smoother collaboration!

This is a great idea, not just so we're on the same page, but we have terms that get used so rarely that lots of us just forget what they mean!

This is greatly needed across technical and non-technical teams.  Looks very useful.

@Michael Kerr

"This is greatly needed across technical and non-technical teams..."

And in the world at large!

That's really important when teams are on the same page and understand all the terms!

LOVE this. I train non-technical employees on app/software & Saas/development tool usage and basic administrative skills. I also write tech documentation specifically targeting non-tech audiences learning and using new technologies and/or more complex tech skills.

The most frustrating aspect of tech learning they've repeatedly shared is having to look up jargon and terms away from the product they are learning. It's like learning a new language first to learn the new product/skill second. This keeps the vocabulary and tech upskilling in one source--no user distractions and frustrations from looking up word after word in a 3rd party/outside source!

This would've saved me from writing approximately 1,375,257,901,125 (rough estimate) end-user glossaries too, haha. It's an admin's dream app, awesome job, @Khawla Issaoui Creativas!
