JIRA 6.2 How to hide subtask from user group

pmooresaxton November 5, 2014

In JIRA 5 it is possible to set different security scheme to parent and sub-task

This has been changed in v6 so that sub-task can only inherit the security value of the parent.

So my question is. Does anyone know an alternative way of hiding the subtask from a specific group of users whilst allowing them to see the parent record?

Thanks

Found This in Atlassian JIRA JRA-5869 Sub-Task should have independent security levels

And a solution from Jason Stubbings

There is a workaround to this issue - define a security group with two security levels - one based on internal project role to have access and another based on custom customer group field. When creating the parent issue - have issue security turned on (and don't allow change by customer role permission), and set custom customer group to be equal to the customer who should have access to parent issue (note - internal project role will automatically gain access). When creating the sub-task DO NOT include the customer group in the custom customer group field.

This will (if set-up correctly) allow internal users to see both parent and sub-tasks but the customer (external user) will only be able to see parent.
