How to connect jira with non empty database?

Hi All, How can i connect a brand new instance of Jira with a database which already have the jira dedicated tables. When i tried to connet through the installer, i got the error saying The database is not empty, please manage to provide an empty database.

If what you want is to make a new installation of JIRA you should drop all the tables in the database first.

If what you want is to connect a new JIRA installation to use the data in an existing database you can do it by:

  1. Install a brand new JIRA with an empty database.
  2. Modify the file <JIRA_DATA>/dbconfig.xml so it points to the database with the data.
  3. Restart JIRA.
