We’re so excited to share that coming soon, Jira Product Discovery will come out of Beta and be generally available with two editions: Free and Standard (paid).
Generally available (GA) means the beta version of Jira Product Discovery will come to an end and you can now move to a Free or Standard (paid) plan. To ensure a smooth transition without interruptions to your workflow or unexpected bills, we are asking all beta customers to transition to the free or standard plan of the product by August 17th 2023. Here are instructions to do so.
Should you decide to make the transition, we wanted to make you aware of a billing nuance you may encounter.
The new billing engine and Jira Product Discovery
Back in February, we shared the news of a phased roll out of our new billing engine.
Since the shift in payment platforms is ‘phased’ that means the following:
Not all customers are using the same billing system for Jira and Confluence today.
Some Jira and Confluence customers manage billing needs in the new billing engine, and some manage Jira and Confluence billing in the legacy system.
Some will manage Jira and Confluence sites across both systems at the same time until the transition to the new billing engine is complete.
All new products, such as Jira Product Discovery, can only be managed in the new billing engine.
Jira Product Discovery is billed separately and on a different experience for those whose Jira and Confluence sites have yet to be migrated to our new billing engine.
Once all customers' cloud sites are migrated, consolidated billing for all Jira products, Confluence and new products (such as Jira Product Discovery), will be supported.
What does this mean if I upgrade to Jira Product Discovery Standard?
Adding a Standard plan of Jira Product Discovery to your managed cloud products follows the same process no matter the billing platform.
Simply go to admin.atlassian.com > Products > Discover New Products and choose ‘Try it Now’ for Jira Product Discovery.
How to know if you’ll be managing Jira Product Discovery and other cloud products across billing systems
If you have Jira and/or Confluence cloud products billed in the legacy system and you sign up for Jira Product Discovery Standard, you’ll need to re-enter payment details in the new billing engine.
From admin.atlassian.com, go to the Billing tab. There you’ll see ‘Billing Preview’ with a list of all your cloud products.
When you click ‘Manage’ for Jira Product Discovery, you’ll be brought to a new billing experience where you’ll need to add both a payment method and a billing address.
It’ll look like this:
Click ‘Manage’ next to Jira Product Discovery, and add your payment information.
Next, add your billing address
And you’re all set.
How to know if you're already on the new billing engine
If you have Jira and/or Confluence cloud products already billed in the new billing engine, you’ll see no change in your experience and can use your existing payment method on file.
