weekly capacity not variable in Jira Portfolio improved interface

The problem occurs in the Portfolio Improved interface and not in the 'tradional interface'.

In the traditional interface you can specify the number of working hours for one person for one week, e.g. 40 hours. For a team of 7 persons, based on these values the total weekly capacity is computed automatically, nl. 280 hours.

In the improved interface this this not possible and you can only view the number of 200 working hours as a specified maximum for a team.

Does this mean that a variable weekly capacity for different persons in a team has not yet been implemented in the Jira Portfolio improved interface ? If yes, in which version / when can this desired functionality be expected ?

With kind regards,
Bertran de Boer

Hi @Bertran de Boer ,

I'm a product manager on the team. We decided not to prioritize individual capacity in the new interface. We believe empowering our customers to focus on teams' capacity rather than individuals would be more beneficial.

We believe focusing on teams' capacity is less effort for planners, enables planning at scale, yet still provides accurate results.

At the same time, we know that today you can't plan with variable future capacity. Soon, we will release the ability to adjust future sprints' capacity. Related to capacity planning, we also plan to release:

  1. Link to the teams' velocity chart in Jira from the sprint flyouts
  2. Editing future sprints - Name, date. goal

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Cheers,

Roi

A few people in my company have the same question
@Roi Fine when do you expect to release the varible Sprint capacity feature or in which future release?

Any update on when the variable sprint capacity will be available? We would also make great use of this feature. Thanks.

Hi @Roi Fine,

the urgently awaited feature to set variable capacities for future sprints/iterations seems to be included in the data center version of adv. roadmaps since June 2020..?

Can you tell us when this feature will finally be available in the cloud version?

Thanks,

Nico
