Why are some timelines in 3.0 a lighter color than others? They all have pointed work...

Some of my timelines in Portfolio 3.0 are very light in color, whereas others are the expected darker color.  When I research this, I find that it supposedly relates to having open pointed stories or not for that body of work.  On my timelines however, this does not appear to be the case - so what drives color lightness in the 3.0 UI?
