What field "estimate" can be used to roll-up in Plans?

In the view settings of Plans (advanced Roadmaps) I can choose to roll-up values for several fields like sprints, releases, teams and estimates.

Sprint, releases and teams work all well, but there is not a field "estimate" that I can select that shows up in fields or can be used for rolling up.

What field do I need to use to roll-up estimates in my Plan?

@jeroen_wilmes the only other thing you have to do to use story points on kanban boards (beyond what @Giovanni Melai  has suggested) is say they are actually Scrum boards in the Plan (in Teams/Team settings/Planning style), otherwise AR will not acknowledge the story point field. Which I believe is your problem.

That is correct. And that is exactly the shortcoming of Plan (AR) in Jira. It can not combine Kanban and scrum projects.

I do understand that you can not add up "apples and oranges" (SP and estimated duration) BUT it should be possible to make one Plan telling you the total  SP's and the Total Estimate duration and in the Teams capacity timeline show per team the capacity and load. One in SP the other in Estimates; depending the source project.

I'm going to raise a ticket for this, because it is already for 3 years on the "feature"list (see the link in this conversation) list of Atlassian and nothing is happening. That was OK when Advance Roadmaps was an add-on, but now it is integrated it should be done properly.

Hi Giovanni, that part is clear to me.

If I choose for Days or Hours, I know that it maps with the field "time remaining" in the time-tracking of the JIRA issue. Values put in there show up in my Plan under field "estimate". (d) or (h).  This works in Kanban projects only.

My question comes in when I choose for Story-points. It works fine with Story-points for Scrum Projects only.

I do have both types of projects in my plan and need to add them together.  That is why I was looking into the "estimate" which is mentioned as one the the possible fields to roll-up. I hoped that the "estimate" field could be an alternative for "time remaining" and Story-points.

I know there is already for years an request to make storypoints available in Kanban, but that does not makes any progress. https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-7265

Oh well, if you have both Kanban and Scrum boards in the same plan it's a problem because Story points and "time" are not comparable.

Anyway, even if you are not able to use the out-of-the-box functionality to show the Story points in the Kanban board (and you are fine with doing so) I think you can just add the Story point field to the relevant screens of the project that is used by the Kanban, in the Board settings you can add the Story point field under the Card layout setting, so you can see it in the Backlog and the Card view.

Done this you should be able to see and use the field also in the Plan.

Hi @jeroen_wilmes,

it actually depends on what you configured in the plan settings under Scheduling.

In the plan, you will be able to select Estimates (h or d) or Story points based on the previous selection.

I hope this helps
