Stories and Sub-tasks on one view in Advanced Roadmaps (Plans)?

Daniel Borisov December 1, 2021

Hello,

Currently I would like to manage Advanced Plans to plan out the capacity and workload of a team who's work is spread between multiple other teams and projects. Meaning that this group of members are being assigned stories and tasks from various different places. The way that I've created the "Plan" is by their team board which is essentially an advanced filter filtering down the items based on the assignees. The only issue I have is that when I would like to view both the Stories/Bugs (as they are on one hierarchy level) AND the sub-tasks I am unable. I would need to constantly switch the hierarchy options between story to sub-tasks and sub-tasks to sub-tasks. Can this be fixed and for me to be able to see all assigned items to my team members on one view?

Hi @Daniel Borisov

Welcome to the community.

This should be able to be done. It would be good if you could show us what issue sources your plan is using and what you are seeing.

I take it you are using boards that filter on all issues (be it stories, Bugs or Sub-tasks) per team member??? If so, then these should ALL be visible on your plan.

It could be influenced by how you are "grouping" and "Filtering" on your plan.

Ensure you have the hierarchy set down to sub-task level.

Check for "issues without a parent" at the bottom of the plan.

Let us know how you go.

Hi Curt,

Thanks for the reply!

Could the problem be that my filter is getting only the items that the team members are assigned to? So for example a sub-task could be assigned to a team member, but the Story that is the parent of this sub-task isn't visible on the filter due to it not being assigned to the team member?

What I see is that Stories and Bugs are on the same level and are visible when the hierarchies are Story to sub-task and maybe see their sub-tasks only if the Stories are assigned to the same person. When I switch to hierarchy level of sub-task to sub-task then I see all of the sub-tasks. My need is to be able to see all of the Bugs and sub-tasks on one view (Bugs are on the upper level of sub-tasks). Would it be the issue the filter in your opinion? I've tried clearing out the grouping and etc., but it is still the same.

Indeed that was the issue after all. When pushed a filter that would show all items and filter them down based upon the assignee it showed me the parents and sub-tasks on a single view. Thanks for giving me the idea!
