Jira Portfolio, scheduling small stories before higher ranked stories

In Jira Portfolio, I have broken down epics into multiple stories and prioritised. Portfolio is scheduling small stories above higher priority stories. Is there a way for Portfolio to stick to the priority order of stories? It is difficult to add dependencies, as I have so many epics and stories.

I have tried updating the scheduling setting for 'Minimum work package size' to different figures, but that doesn't seem to change anything.
