JIRA Portfolio: Get Epic linked to Initiative to adopt Initiative in Portfolio

JIRA Portfolio: How do I get an Epic that is linked to an Initiative (through Issue Link in Jira) to adopt that Initiative in Portfolio.  It appears I have to manually add the Initiative and Theme in Portfolio when the link is already made in Jira.
