We are looking for a tool to handle requirements management and traceability for a new development program. I was told to check out Jira with Advanced Roadmaps. We have set-up Jira for epic and story tracking, but not able to access Advanced Roadmaps. Does this require special user permissions?
I cannot find an easy way to get Jira assistance.
Advanced Roadmap feature in Jira used to be a separate paid add on and was acquired by Atlassian and then bundled in with their products and is referred to as Plans now. This feature is available in Jira Cloud Premium Version only. The Jira Version is based on the subscription. (Free, Standard and Premium)
Advanced Roadmaps for Jira Software Cloud lets you combine issues from boards, projects, and filters to create an all-encompassing plan that spans multiple teams or your entire organization. So in order to create a plan, first thing to do is come up with Jira Hierarchy within your organization and link (Parent/Child) all the issues from top hierarchy to the lowest hierarchy.
For Ex: Initiative (Project Vision/initiation) ---> Feature (Chunk of functionality that delivers considerable business value ----> Epic (A big user story that has one common objective and needs to be broken down into smaller stories) ----> Story (Functionality or a Feature expressed as a user goal) -----> Tasks/Subtasks
This all sounds great, but unfortunately I have not been able to access / create using advance roadmap on my jira project: UA AVS Kanban Board 1 - Agile Board - DXC Jira.
Can you help with that?
