How can I include initiatives in the advanced roadmap? Currently it only allows grouping by projects

By default, the roadmap plan shows epics and stories. I was able to filter out sprints and group them by projects, however not by initiatives. Our team uses initiatives heavily and we need to show those for planning level view and management view.

I assume you have already created the Initiative issue type and set its hierarchy, so it is a parent to Epic?

The next step then is to configure the Advanced Roadmap plan to include Initiative. Then you can change the view in the tree by setting the first part of the hierarchy to initiative the last part as either story or subtask.

@Jimi Wikman  Hi, I am just learning to use the advanced planning in jira cloud, is there anyway to setup the plan to only show all epics/user stories under one initiative?  so i have say several initiatives and i just want a report on one, and yes the several epics would be linked to the one initiative.

I do not see a way to base a plan on a query.

The only way i see to do this is to setup a board based on a query and then use it when creating a plan, would that be correct?

Or create a plan with all initiatives and then remove everything i don't want and save the view but that could be time consuming and change a lot every time I add anything new to the project.

@Neelam Manhas - did you ever figure out how to only show one Initiative on your Advanced Road Map?

Neelam Manhas February 8, 2023

yes, you can base the plan on a project, boards(s), or filter, so i had to base it on the one initiative using one of those methods and create the query based on the initiative.
