I am very new to JIRA Portfolio, and am trying to figure out how to build a five to six level deep hierarchy. I can use some help. By the way, I recognize that we probably shouldn't need to have such a deep hierarchy to begin with, but let's side aside that debate for now :)
So, in JIRA Portfolio hierarchy settings, I added two new levels. Let's call them Level 1 and Level 2. By default, it already has three levels in there. So, that makes for total five levels. After saving the settings, I created a new JIRA portfolio plan and tried to add some dummy items to build out a five level deep structure. That's where I am getting confused because it only gives me the choice to create an Epic and then from there two levels below it. So, no matter what I try, it limits me to three levels instead of the five levels that I am expecting.
I have used JIRA a lot before, but am new to JIRA portfolio, so please assume that I don't know anything about it. I figure I am missing something that is obvious.
Hello @hiren ,
Thanks for reaching out, and from your description it sounds like you are looking at the Epic Hierarchy level in the plan view for the scope settings.
In the upper left of the Plan there is a drop down to select the hierarchy level that you are currently looking at and will only allow creating issues at the level you are viewing and lower.
From the plan it will be located here:
And after selecting the highest level the option to create the top level initiatives levels should be avaliable:
Let me know if this is the case or if you are seeing something different. If this is not what you are seeing please add a screenshot if can without exposing any sensitive data.
Regards,
Earl
