Connection of Jira Portfolio to Jira Agile

I noticed, that when updating the plan, the effort of the jira issue changed as well. I was not expecting that. How can I prevent my issues changing, when updating a plan?

I believe you need to disable the estimate synchronisation setting in your plan configuration.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiraportfolioserver/synchronization-settings-715263142.html talks about how Update plan works, and it specifically mentions making sure that you have update estimates sync turned on. Assumption is that if you disable it, then you wont have this issue?
