Change Epic to On-Going once a task started

Dear Team,

I've created Epic with tasks and sub tasks inside it.

I would like to know how it is possible to change Epic status automaticly to 'On Going' once a task/sub-task under that Epic started.

Thanks.

Third Party addon like ScriptRunner or Automation can help you on those type of tasks. This is not something JIRA is offering out-of-the-box.

If you're looking at only doing this type of thing, Automation is a better choice in my opinion. While ScriptRunner offers a very wide range of other features like JQL functions and custom coding.
