Can we use skills without stages?

Hi,

In our portfolio plan we configured several skills ( like team lead, developer, architect etc. ), but do we need to configure stages as well for using it properly, or can we use skills without stages?

Thank you!

Hi Jeroen,

Yes - you are able to use Skills without Stages.

You can break down an estimation for an issue by skill (e.g. 25% architect, 75% development). You can assign Skills to Team Members in a Plan, and Portfolio will schedule issues according to the availability of skills in the team. This can by useful for finding bottlenecks in planning introduced by work items requiring specialised experience.

Stages are more about capturing sequential activities within a work item (e.g. a design stage followed by implementation).

Thanks,

The Portfolio for Jira team.
