What’s involved in the research:

  • The session will focus on how work is planned, prioritised and scheduled across teams and the role of different features in Jira Plans.

  • Sessions are 1 hour and conducted via Zoom, so you can participate from anywhere around the world.

  • As a thank you for taking part in the session, you’ll receive an e-gift voucher or we can donate to a chosen charity on your behalf.

Interested in taking part? Fill in a few more details HERE so we can make sure you’re a good fit.

If you're selected for the research session, we'll contact you with more details in the next week.

If you have any other questions at all, feel free to reply to this post or email me directly on nrowland@atlassian.com. We look forward to meeting you.

Hi @Natalie Rowland ,

I am contacting you to let you know our first feedback on the use of Program Board :
- Being able to vary the capacity of teams per sprint

- Identify on isuues whether it is connected to one or n program board (by field like sprint)

- Sprint-related functions (opening, closing, quick assignement to a sprint by field completion, Function used in JQL like futureSprints() or  openSprints()or closedSprints() )

- Monitoring of changes to the quarterly iteration (change of scope during quarterly iteration (formerly sprint report)

- alert when teams sprints date start or finish after quaterly itération

@Karine VANEL
Thank you for providing these details. I'm tagging the Product owner for the Program Board who can answer some of your questions. Meet Rhys Christian -  rchristian@atlassian.com

I have a couple of questions:

- How many teams are planning work within one Program board?

- Overall how happy are you with the Program board?

- What does it enable your teams to do that wasn't possible previously?

Thank you

Natalie

Hey @Karine VANEL - Thank you for sharing your feedback! We appreciate your thoughtful suggestions and will consider them.

  • Being able to vary the capacity of teams per sprint: This is currently possible to do in the Program Board, though admittedly not super obvious. You can edit the capacity value of each sprint to account for expected variability in the capacity:

You can also configure the iteration capacity for teams that don't have sprints added by clicking the capacity number:

  • Regarding showing the Program Board that an issue is in, there is an option you can consider here. When you create a Program Board you can define a value to filter to scope with (this can be also defined after creation in the plan settings).
This can be used to isolate only the relevant scope for the quarter, and provide visibility of what Program Board an issue is included in.

e.g we setup a "Quarter (PI)" custom field and use that to allocate work for the quarter and remove the noise from irrelevant work in the Program Board:

(Note: Custom fields need to be added to the Plan, via plan settings, before they can be used here)

Do these help for a couple of your needs?

Cheers

Hi @Rhys Christian ,
Thank you for your answers. We missed the configuration for itération capacity !.

we also chose to create a field like you but this requires being rigorous. Before we worked with a project dedicated to the PIP and therefore with management by 'Sprint Quarterly' so we lost ease because the Sprint field was updated automatically during drag and drop.

Hi @Natalie Rowland ,
We are preparing the teams (we were waiting for the end of beta). We plan to test for the 25T2

Program Board will have between 5 and 10 teams by board
