Is there a way to clone/copy a portfolio plan?

suzanne.potter January 24, 2019

We created a plan in portfolio for one project.  We added two teams to this plan and assigned the appropriate team to each story/task.  Since Jira does not recognize the Team field in portfolio, the only place the team assignment exists is in the portfolio plan.

In the future we will need to bring this plan into another plan along with a second project to see timelines of the two projects on one roadmap.  We want to see two projects in the same plan so that we don't rollout too many different projects at the same time to the same set of users.

I don't want to have to redo the team assignments we made in our projects so I'm wondering if there is a way to clone a project plan.

Thanks!

Hi, Suzanne

Indeed, the Team field is only applicable in Portfolio.

You can't make a copy of a portfolio plan in 'one click'.

What you can do here is two things:

  1. You can create a Shared Team and use this same team in all of  your plans
  2. To 'copy' a plan, what you need to do is make sure to use the same *Issue Source* in both plans.

As per your description, I think just creating a Shared Team will make your work easily here :)

Give it a try and let me know the outcome!
