Dependency Report No Longer Accessible (Jira DC v8.16.0) - Please help?

Alexandra Toth May 18, 2022

Hi-

we are running Jira DC V8.16.0. I used to be able to see dependencies in the timeline and also under the dependency tab. The feature disappeared a few months ago. Is there a plan to bring it back for JIra DC? Am I missing a new config step? Thanks for any tips/insights!

@Alexandra Toth -

This doesn't seem to be a out of the box Jira functionality.  It must be associated with add-ons to your environment.  Can you provide more information, so we can assist you further?

Lastly, you should start looking at upgrading your version of Jira soon as there are a few CVE security alerts that you need to ensure your system is not exposed to known vulnerabilities.

This question relates to the Advanced Jira Roadmap product specifically. Based on documentation, the Dependency Report is part of the core offering. I was able to access it initially, but then disappeared. Wonder if the issue is DC related or a configuration needed? Thanks for trying to help.

@Alexandra Toth -

The link you provided is related to the CLOUD env, so it may not be applicable (100%) for the server based env.

However, looking at our server (DC) based env, the report is there.  NOTE - you can access it in two different ways based on the plan types:

If your plan is using the new improved UI plan, it is displayed in the plan

On the other hand, if your plan is still using the Live plan UI, then you need to click on "Reports" (located at the upper right of your plan) button, then you will see the option for the report.

Lastly, it is important that for you to know that Live plan UI will be removed in Jira Software 9.0 Data Center release + the important notes below...

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Advanced-Roadmaps-articles/Ending-support-for-the-Advanced-Roadmaps-Live-plans-Legacy/ba-p/1963824#EndingsupportforLiveplans(Legacyinterface)inAdvancedRoadmaps-hybrid

After upgrading to Jira 8.16+

  • If the users created a plan before upgrading to Jira 8.16+ (= existing plan), they can disable the improved interface to access the Live Plans interface, or enable the improved interface when they use the Live Plans interface. They can switch between both interfaces as much as they want.

  • If the users create a new plan on Jira 8.16+, they cannot disable the improved interface to access the Live Plans interface. They only have access to the improved interface on that plan. This was done purposefully to steer customers away from the legacy Live Plans interface.

After upgrading to Jira 9.0.0+

  • All plans will be migrated to the improved interface. If a customer was still using the Live Plans interface, he / she will be redirected to the improved interface automatically.

  • Customers cannot disable the improved interface to access the Live Plans interface even if their plan was created before upgrading to Jira 8.16+.

  • The only way for customers to still access the Live Plans interface on their plans is to downgrade Jira to a version prior to 9.0.0 (or even 8.16).

Hope this helps.

Best, Joseph

Very strange.  Can you check what version of AR for Jira that you are using in your 8.16 Jira env?

Take a look - https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver0816/early-access-features-in-advanced-roadmaps-1077915708.html

Check if you enabled early-access feature for the report.

appreciate the time and input! I will need to work through our Jira admin to confirm and will circle back with any further questions/concerns.

Thanks again!
