Setting up the project lead as an approver to confirm logged time

We require an approval layer before sending timesheets to clients. I was wondering if someone could let me know the best of setting up the project lead so that they could confirm they are happy with the time logged against an issue before it is finalised in Jira? i.e. if a developer logs time, the project lead may get a notification asking if they are satisfied with this time log before it is confirmed. Is something like this possible? I am quite new to Jira so any tips welcome.
