Select List Conversion(multiple), how to populate it in behavior?

I have a single line text field which has the Scriptrunner Select List Conversion to MultiSelect with a connected REST end point to it in the init script of a behaviour.

In another behavior I'm trying to Set this "MultiSelect" without any success.

The current solution now is to convert the textfield back to short text and add the values. But I would like to have it as multiselect converted with the label boxes instead.

Any ideas how to accomplish that?

// the below code works
def pPlPI = parentIssue.getCustomFieldValue(cFM.getCustomFieldObjectByName("Planned PI"));
FormField fcon = getFieldByName("Planned PI");
fcon.convertToShortText().setFormValue(pPlPI);

// code below is not working.
//fcon.setFieldOptions(["PI18A":"PI18A"]);
//fcon.setFieldOptions(["PI18A"]);

// the below code works for a single select Conversion but that's not my problem
def pPlPI = parentIssue.getCustomFieldValue(cFM.getCustomFieldObjectByName("Planned PI"));
FormField fcon = getFieldByName("Planned PI");
fcon.setFormValue(pPlPI);
