How to export ALL Project Configuration from one JIRA instance to another using Project Configurator

Edited

Hi, we are using Adaptavist's Project Configurator to export projects from Dev to Prod and vice versa. Here is my current use case:

Our dev/staging environment is so old, that I want to blow away all of the projects, issues, configuration, workflows, custom fields, screens, schemes, permission schemes, etc.

I want to keep my users in tact for now.

Then, I want to export all projects, and their configuration, without the issues, users, or attachments.

Question pertaining to quote above: how do I blow away all configuration in dev/staging. Do I delete each project separately? We have close to 100 projects. Thanks

Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for your question.

In order to achieve your requirments you would first of all need to delete all projects and their associated configuration from your staging instance manually so that you are left with an empty instance which contains no projects and configuration.

Project Configurator does not contain the functionality to delete entire projects and their associated configuration so this would need to be done manually.

Alternativetly you may find this post here helpful which outlines a script which can be used to automate deleting projects.

Once you have got your instance back to a clean instance this then you will e able to use Project Configurator to export all of the projects configuration from the production instance for the projects which you wish to migrate and then to restore this configuration on the target instance.

You will find the doucumentation guides on how to export and import projects located here.

Hello,

If you want to remove all configuration in your Jira. Just install a new clean Jira.
