Nothing is actually deleted and everything's up-to-date. This can't be linked to permissions as any logged in user can comment if he's in the project. I have a site admin role and I still see this error. How do I fix it?

Have you checked that you've permission to comment? Go to your permission scheme -->

Sure, any logged in user can add comments according to permission scheme
