When a requestor creates a ticket using Form submission - Jira is there a way to show show the link or number of the ticket which is just got created? This will be a massive help !
Hi @Joshi ,
To fully confirm the actual user experience, could you please verify this:
When you submit a form as a "Customer" on the portal, in addition to the static thank-you message in the center, can you see a pop-up in the bottom-left corner (containing the ticket key and a "View request" link) similar to the one below?
Unfortunately, this is not possible yet. There is a feature request for it in the Jira cloud backlog : JRACLOUD-98607
Pop-up is blocked by the administrators, but I was able to add exemption but still no luck
On top of what the guys have said, there's also this feature request: JRACLOUD-94094: Jira forms - share the work item ( issue / ticket ) number after submission
I think what we've built once is automation that actually sends an email once the form is submitted and a new work item is created. Alternatively, you could maybe just mention the user (reporter) in the comments or something so they at least get a notification about the newly created work item. 👀
Not sure why they didn't implement it straight away 🤔
Cheers,Tobi
The pop-up blocker is a false lead. That's why the exemption changed nothing. What Ollie is describing sits in the corner of the page, drawn by Jira itself. A blocker governs new windows a site tries to open, and that is a different mechanism from an element the page renders inside itself. So the exemption was unrelated, and the notification still not appearing tells you nothing yet. Look again for a small notification in the corner of the page itself, not a separate window.
One of the keys above has a typo. It sends you nowhere. JIRACLOUD-98607 does not resolve; the project key is JRACLOUD, so it's JRACLOUD-98607, "Display created issue key on form post-submission confirmation", Gathering Interest on 3 votes. The other one Tobi gave you is real as written: JRACLOUD-94094, Gathering Interest on 17 votes. If you are voting, that second one is where the weight already is.
Tobi's automation route is the thing that works today. Build the comment variant rather than the email: a rule on work item created, scoped to that form's request type, adding a comment that mentions the reporter, which gets them a notification carrying the key and a link straight to the item they raised. It lands in the same place they would look anyway, and it survives someone missing a corner notification entirely.
unfortunately there is nothing showing up, I kept watching all four corners for long enough.
Hi @Joshi
As @Tomislav Tobijas mentioned, this isn't currently available directly in native Jira Forms. The feature request JRACLOUD-94094 is still open, so using Jira Automation to send the reporter an email with {{issue.key}} / {{issue.url}} is probably the most practical native workaround for now.
{{issue.key}}
{{issue.url}}
If you're open to apps, another approach you might consider is Smart Forms for Jira, developed by my team.
We support a custom submission message that can show the newly created work item immediately after the user submits the form.
For example:
Thanks! Your request has been created as ${workItemKey}.View your request: ${workItemLink}
${workItemKey} displays the new key, such as GDTIPO-123, while ${workItemLink} provides a clickable link to the work item. This works when the Smart Form is configured to Create a new work item from the submission.
${workItemKey}
GDTIPO-123
${workItemLink}
So instead of waiting for a separate automation email, the requester gets the reference number directly on the confirmation screen.
One thing to keep in mind: if the form is available to users who don't have access to the Jira project, showing the work item key is still useful as a reference, but the Jira link itself won't give them access to the work item.
