Am I lost with the new UI changes?

Hi all,

It looks like Atlassian recently rolled out some UI updates to the Timeline view, and I'm hoping I'm just missing a setting here.

Previously, I could expand an Epic directly within the timeline list to see all of its underlying child tickets. Now, the only way to see child issues is by hovering over the three-line icon on the left, which opens a separate pop-up window.

This new view is a bit too restrictive for my workflow. Am I missing a toggle somewhere, or is there a way to re-enable the inline expansion for child tickets in the list view?

I like the fact that I can see the whole hierarchy, but the old view would give me more real state to see epic and its children.

Unfortunately there is not a toggle. It's the new Timeline UI as detailed here:

The good news is, YOU CAN OPT OUT. As the author wrote in an update yesterday (Jul 1, 2026):

If you'd like to opt out of the new timeline while we work through these gaps, please contact support to opt out.

I just wanted to add here that if this change adversely affects you, your site, and your users, you definitely should:

File a Support Ticket to opt out

Vote for JRACLOUD-98720 - Software Timeline: Hierarchy and epic grouping behaviour regression when filter is active

Doing these things should send a signal to Atlassian that they need to prioritize this fix.
