How can I configure Jira to display newly created tasks directly on the Board instead of the Backlog

When I create a task, it doesn't appear on the Board and requires manual movement from the 'Backlog' tab. This behavior differs from previous projects where tasks appeared directly on the Board. I can't locate the relevant settings to adjust this.

Are you using a Team-managed Software project?

The reported behavior is expected in a Team-managed project when the Backlog feature is enabled. 

More details on this can be found in the article Enable the backlog

When you enable the backlog:

• Any new work items created through the + Create icon in the global navigation bar will appear in your backlog.

• You’ll see a new Backlog tab in your project navigation. Go there to use the backlog feature and start prioritizing upcoming work.

To view all work items on your board in the appropriate column based on their current status, you can disable the Backlog by navigating to Project Settings > Features > Toggle OFF Backlog
